The Giving Tree @ La Jolla Country Day School has it’s best year ever!

The Giving Tree @ La Jolla Country Day School has it’s best year ever! (abridgeforkids.org)

After 10 years of helping Foster Youth in San Diego, this was The Giving Tree’s best year ever! The program took almost 550 specific wishes from San Diego’s most at risk Foster youth and over a a 48 hour period essentially all of those wishes had been granted and were waiting to be hand delivered on December 13th.

This is truly an event on campus with both students and parents actively involved in picking out their gift requests. Some very generous families took multiple wishes at a time and talked about how fun it would be to shop for their foster youth this holiday season. Requests for Games, Books, art Supplies and warm PJs for the holiday Season were all in high demand but as has been the case for many years now, Ipod’s remain the top request.

The Nance Family, who founded A Bridge For Kids, volunteered to run the event this year as a family. “We had plans on being at the School all day November 26, 27 and 28th, but by the end of day December 27, we had just a few kids with holiday wishes left. We are happy to report all of the wishes are in the hands of loving families who will make these wishes a reality and return them wrapped and ready to be delivered to those children in need this Holiday Season!”

It was a fabulous year The Giving Tree and A Bridge For Kids working on one common goal- Bringing one holiday wish to almost 550 Foster Kids in need! Happy New Year everyone and Thank you to all of those who make this dream a reality year after year!
